Helen & Mike

“I don’t like to be photographed”

Probably the most common concern expressed to every photographer in the land, possibly the biggest concern of a couple about their wedding album, definitely the smallest concern of a photographer on the day.

We hear it so regularly that an experienced photographer will just shrug and take in their stride. It’s our job to put both bride and groom at ease on the big day..and I believe that great wedding photographs capture the couple’s dynamic, not cheesie smiles down my lens.

When Helen told me she wasn’t comfortable in front of the camera, I offered to do a free boudoir photoshoot in our studio in order for her to conquer her fears and of course for us to get to know one another a little better. The dynamic between photographer and couple on their wedding day is hugely important and I am always happy to have lots of consultations before the big day to help cultivate that bond.

Helen and Mike were married at the Lord Haldon Hotel, nr Exeter on a glorious sunny day. Much water needed for the poor photographer but perfect conditions for the wedding party.

Helen opted for a vintage dress and with her bright red hair she looked absolutely stunning. This was a really lovely wedding and it was a joy to photograph a couple so obviously very much in love.
