Food photography at the Horn of Plenty. A Tasty Job!

Food photography commission for Forest Produce at the Horn of Plenty I was approached by Forest Produce, a long standing client of mine, to produce some food photography in which their amazing ingredients for chefs could be showcased in action. Having designed their brochure for several years I was well experienced and admired their product range so was very keen to help. The Horn of Plenty, near Tavistock, was chosen as the venue and talented young chefs Scott Paton and Luke Fearon were roped in to be our working models. It was important for Forest Produce to show chefs using their products,...

Peserving memories with photography

Peserving memories with photography

In March I was approached by a former commercial client to do a doggie photosession with her two gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. I was excited at the prospect as I have long been a fan of this handsome breed, even being tempted to have one myself. I am a huge dog fan and I take great delight in having furry friends in my studio for a bit of fun and photography, often torturing my own Labradoodle with constant mini sessions to chart his growth. As this online, late night chat unfolded it was clear that a studio session was needed and was needed quickly! Katie informed me with very apparent...

Jenny & Steve

Jenny & Steve

Jenny and Steve West's wedding had to be one of the biggest of 2014 for me. With so many images to chose from I ended up giving them just shy of 1000 pictures! Madness really but I just couldn't throw images away! This was probably one of the hottest days of 2015 and from bridal prep til first dance it was a very long tiring but enjoyable event. The couple tied the knot at St Peter's church in Tiverton, one of my favourite churches in the area and also my parish. After the moving ceremony it was off the The Cleve in Wellington for a sun drenched reception. It must have been exhausting...

Raving reporting!

Over the past year I have increasing been putting my journo head on for Local World, attending events and photographing for my local newspaper. Variety is always appealing to me and the joy in photo journalism is that you never know where you will sent and who you will meet. I have had the pleasure of working with artisan bakers, jolly vintners, creative bakers and chiselled sports people . Events are always very exciting to attend on behalf of the paper also. Whether it's a new building opening for Petroc College, Tiverton Rugby Club bonfire night or Tiverton White Eagles Reunion, the people...

Now that’s what I call a family photoshoot!

Now that’s what I call a family photoshoot!

I was asked by one of my previous bride and grooms to do a family photoshoot for them to celebrate the expansion of their family with both a new puppy and a new baby. I was delighted to have been included in this special occasion, as shooting a wedding creates a special bond between a photographer and his/her clients and it's a real joy to share in the event of a couple becoming a family. It was decided that I would attend the family home with a stock of props and portable studio gear and we would do a combination of shots inside and outside as the sun was gracing us with it's presence! We...

Hydro Robe Commercial Photoshoot by the sea!

Hydro Robe Commercial Photoshoot by the sea!

I was approached to help local producer Hydro Robe to help launch a great new changing robe product. The product is aimed at anyone who enjoy watersports but hate that changing in a car park frostbite! We headed off with a model to the beautiful North Devon Coastline, starting first at Croyde, one of my favourite places in the world! The light was great from the western side of the bay so our poor frozen model made his way over the rocks to get some shots using the dramatic light. Next stop was Putsborough where with much softer light we made the most of the quiet winter beach and got the following...

Robin Cousins and Devon Air Ambulance Trust

Robin Cousins and Devon Air Ambulance Trust

I was asked by Devon Air Ambulance Trust to cover two events for them involving Olympic Medalist, Robin Cousins from Dancing on Ice fame. His touring ICE Show was arriving at Exeter's Westpoint in February of 2014 and he had chosen the Trust as one of the charities the Exeter leg of the tour was to support. Robin took time out of his busy schedule to visit the Middlemoor Air Base to be photographed with the helicopter and to shoot a video to play at the aftershow party at Westpoint as he was unable to attend the event due his commentating commitments at the Winter Olympics. At the show...

National Trust Family Photoshoot

I was asked by a local pal to do a photoshoot of her entire family for her parents anniversary. It was rare to get all the clan together and they wanted to make the most of the occasion with a hour up at Knightshayes Court near Tiverton. The day was a tad overcast but the setting was so glorious it didn't really matter. A bit of off camera flash added a bit of finesse to the gloomy light and the atmosphere with the family was far from gloomy! We had a really great time and all the family members commented on how much more fun the shoot was than they anticipated. Testament that my shoots...

Devon Air Ambulance Trust Charity Bike Ride

I was asked by Devon Air Ambulance Trust to follow their charity bike ride arranged by Lady Penelope Mountbatten, Vickey Fraser, Mary King and Caroline Quentin at Huntsham Court nr Tiverton in autumn 2013. The day was a great success with tens of thousands of pounds raised by the sponsored cycle and following gala evening. Donations were made along the way by Blundells School of Tiverton and the event was well covered in the media.

Commercial Shoot for James Pryce Tractors

I was recently asked to provide some staff profile shots for James Pryce Tractor's new website. With two branches full of staff to shoot and the client wanting something a little different than a normal bland profile I shoot, I was excited to take on the job. Using my Westcott Softbox and off camera flash I was able to get some quite dramatic staff profiles within the workshops, whilst eliminating some of the garages busy surroundings. The client wanted shots that showed their staff were approachable and yet photographed in direct context with their respective roles within the company. The...
